BE YOU - GROWING A MENTALLY HEALTHY GENERATION
Be You is an Australian mental health and well-being initiative set in primary schools and early childhood.  It is a new national program that has replaced Kidsmatter across all schools.  The delivery partners are Early Childhood Australia, Headspace and the Australian Government Department of Health.

Be You provides educators with knowledge, resources and strategies for helping children and young people achieve their best possible mental health.  It is a framework that helps primary schools and early childhood education and care services (like preschools, kindergartens and day care centres) take care of children's mental health needs by:
  • creating positive school and early childhood communities
  • teaching children skills for good social and emotional development
  • working together with families
  • recognising and getting help for children with mental health problems.
The five aspects of the Be You Framework are:
·  Learning Resilience                 ·  Family Partnerships
·  Early Support                            ·  Responding Together and
·  Learning Resilience.

At West Leeming, we are fully embracing this new initiative, and have set up a Be You Action Team for implementation across our school.

The Be You website, https://beyou.edu.au/ has a wealth of information that you can directly access.

NATURE PLAY
West Leeming Primary School encourages student interaction with the natural environment by providing safe, engaging areas, within the school grounds, for play and exploration. We believe that nature play allows our students to gain an appreciation of the natural world around them. Our "Bush Classroom" provides students with team building opportunities and promotes active play.
